Ice Fishing

I took an editorial photography class this semester, in it we each worked on five different stories throughout the semester, I just realized that I have not posted any of my editorial work so I thought I would start with my story on ice fishing. I learned a lot working on this project. I remember being so nervous the first time I walked out onto the ice and thinking I was going to fall in when my foot crashed through the 10 inches of snow that was sitting on top of the ice, I went back about four more times and by the end had no fears when walking across the ice. These are some of my favorite pictures from this project, I hope you enjoy them.

Purse

I am surprised how often random strangers come up to me and complement this purse, I even had a lady grab my arm as I was walking by to stop me and tell me that she loved my purse in the store the other day. Who would have ever known that a purse could cause so many conversations between strangers.

Peru needs help too!!!!!!

Disclaimer: These photos were not taken by Allison Esther Photography.

"Here are a few photos from the flooding that occurred in the High Andes. I took all of these photos today as I visited some of the area around our villages. The government is no where to be found or is anyone from the UN, USA, or any church. There are no TV or news media. It seems that the Haiti is sucking up all the worlds attention and charity money. No Obama mentions in his daily TV appearance. As I traveled over 200 miles today, the only thing I saw was the people digging through the damp rubble personal items. Each area I visited was like a ghost town. No looters- just very poor people who own so little trying to gather up a few things and the energy to keep going on." -Jerry Simons

A few years ago I went on a humanitarian trip to the High Andes of Peru with The Hope Projects Foundation to build school rooms, bathrooms, and greenhouses. The people were so grateful, generous, and such hard workers. These same people just experienced great destruction due to flooding in the Andes and need help...let the world know Haiti is not the only country who needs our help right now!

Let it Snow!

I took this picture last weekend when I was working on a new project, it reminds me that I really do love winter, despite the cold the white coat of winter makes things so beautiful. I am ready for a good snow on a day that I can go out and take pictures just for me!

Goggles

These snow goggles were tricky, I photographed them a couple times and in many different ways to try to make them look good, I am pretty happy with my final results. I love the colors in the lens!

I think Rocky Mountain Chocolate apples are my favorite treat right now, they are just so good. I really enjoyed this shoot because I got to eat the product after photographing it!

Black on Black

This was a fun shoot, it is of Williams-Sonoma Molcajete, a mortar and pestle carved from volcanic rock. Black on black was another shoot that I learned a lot from and that I loved.

Vans

This is my first ever still life advertising shot that I took. White on white was a fun challenge. I learned a lot during this shot, most importantly how much I love being in the studio with just me and the product.

Opposites Attract

Opposites attract, we have all heard it before. I think that this picture describes it better then ever, I love the yellow and blue together and the way it makes the yellow pop.

Wood Pallets

I am fascinated by this building. I have gone back many times, there are so many different interesting details all on the outside of one industrial building and the colors are so vibrant.

It is all about the Green

I have to admit that this is one of my favorite photographs from the building series but then again I have a lot of favorites in this series. I love the large rust spot and the two boards on the right of garage door. I also love the power lines draping across of the top of the building, there is something about the combination of geometric and organic shapes and lines that intrigues me. Oh and green seems to be my new favorite color, I like about the photograph too.

Danielle

Meet Danielle, She was such a fun girl to photograph, Danielle claimed to be shy in front of the camera but was actually quite a natural, a lot of fun, had a great wardrobe and amazing eyes! I didn't meet Danielle until she came to the studio and it couldn't have been much better of an experience.

Yellow Building

This building is another one that I took to go along with my industrial building project. I have to admit that I love driving around the provo and other local towns looking for industrial buildings with interesting geometrical compositions, different colors, and other graphic elements. This series really excites me!
