Vans

This is my first ever still life advertising shot that I took. White on white was a fun challenge. I learned a lot during this shot, most importantly how much I love being in the studio with just me and the product.

It is all about the Green

I have to admit that this is one of my favorite photographs from the building series but then again I have a lot of favorites in this series. I love the large rust spot and the two boards on the right of garage door. I also love the power lines draping across of the top of the building, there is something about the combination of geometric and organic shapes and lines that intrigues me. Oh and green seems to be my new favorite color, I like about the photograph too.

Low Key

We were given the assignment to make a low key photograph in my portrait class, this means that most of the photograph should be darker than middle grey. Low key photos involve a lot of subtracting and blocking of light and are the opposite of the high key photo of Kati on the last post. I would like to thank Buck for coming into the studio and letting me photograph him even though he had never met me before.

High key

This is my friend Kati, I think that she is so beautiful! Kati just graduated from the photo program at BYU and I hope that one day I can be as good as she is, you can check out her work here. I took this picture for my high key assignment and I am really happy with how it turned out.

Inspiration

This photograph was taken for an assignment in my color class when we were studying the seven color contrasts, our first assignment was a monochromatic image and this is what I came up with. I have to admit that I love it! This photo inspired me to do a series on industrial buildings for the assignments in my color class. I really enjoyed taking the assignments I was given every week and turning them into my own personal project. The rest of the buildings will be coming soon.

A Little of What's to Come

This semester I took a class where we used fully manual 4x5 film cameras and loved it!!! It was really nice to have to slow down and really think about every picture I took, I also had a lot of fun using the camera movements that a 4x5 can do that an SLR can't. This is my favorite image from the class, the rest of the photographs will be coming up soon!
